4th july favorites

Original post here

I can’t believe the holiday weekend is just around the corner. Ever since having Zain, time seems to be flying by. I’m sure life will calm down in the future (that happens, right?) but we’re in survival mode around here. Since he came earlier than expected, I wasn’t necessarily mentally prepared to have a newborn with Trevor still in fellowship. He starts his new job on July 1st and we thought he would be going straight from paternity leave to normal work hours. With Zain arriving 3 weeks early, Trevor had to return to Rush to finish out fellowship.

I know I’ve mentioned it before, Trevor’s current work schedule has him leaving around 5am and home anywhere from 8pm and later. It leaves him very little time to help and had me seriously overwhelmed. Thankfully, my mom was happy to come stay with us and has literally been a lifesaver. I’m not sure what I would do without her and it’s made enjoying Zain so much easier!

I’m so excited for the holiday weekend and to have Trevor off too! We are hoping to spend lots of family time outside and maybe I can even sneak in a cocktail and a nap. If the weather cooperates, I hope we can take a picnic to the park and maybe enjoy a date night out while my mom is still in town to watch Zain. I know she can’t stay here forever but I really wish she would! Not only is it such a help but it’s been so amazing to spend time with her and watch how much she adores and cares for Zain.

I rounded up some of my favorite picks for the weekend and most of them are perfect for all year round! I own these tee’s in almost every color and they couldn’t be more comfortable. They’re perfect to dress down with jeans or make a skirt more casual! Plus, the price is amazing. I also included some eyelet favorites like this tank and boxy tee that look so cute with jean shorts or a fitted pair of skinny jeans

What do you guys have planned for 4th of July weekend?

I’ve been loving eyelet everything and the cute ruffle detailing on the sleeves sold me!

I love the size and shape of this bag! Plus, the handle and strap options are key.

Finding a pair of denim shorts that aren’t too short and still distressed had proven to be near impossible. I love the length and wash of these though!

Another eyelet option perfect for the holiday weekend and all summer long!

Gingham is everywhere this season and I think the red is such a fun look for 4th of July.

Ahh, I immediately bought this when I saw it and was happy to see it on sale! The linen texture is perfect for summer.

I’m loving one pieces for summer and this vertical stripe pattern is flattering and perfect for the holiday weekend!

I have these in a darker wash and basically live in them. The stretch is perfect and I love the unfolded detailing at the bottom.

This wrap skirt is adorable and feminine and not too short!

Another eyelet favorite with an empire waist!

I own this tee in almost every color. It’s so affordable and is beyond comfortable!

I thought this was adorable for the holiday and would wear it year round too!

  1. I love that linen tank with the ruffles- so cute and great for the 4th. I feel like the last several years the temps have been warm on Independence Day, and it only gets hotter with the grill going in the back yard. Great picks!

  2. Your mom is just the best. <3 Can't wait to see her (and you!) LOVE YOU!!!!! You are such a great mom!
