Happy Monday friends! 

We are scrambling around here to get ready for our week in Chicago and finish up all the house projects. I feel like we are constantly on a hamster wheel when it comes to the house. Finishing one thing and another one pops up but I’m pretty sure that is just home ownership so I need to release my anxiety.

This past week was a big one though. We finished all our final paint jobs: the shoe mold is complete in our bedroom, the black doors have been glossed and the dining room ceiling is painted and ready for us to pick wallpaper. Also, I have not forgotten about sharing the tiny bath! The sconce I ordered is custom so won’t be here for a few weeks but once we get that installed and a few things cleaned up I will be sharing the full before and after and it’s a good one!

As for today’s post I  thought I would share my thoughts on how to pair booties and handbags for winter since I’ve been getting that question a lot. When it comes to winter shoes I always say stick with neutrals. I mean are we surprised? Boots and booties are things I invest in and keep for years so sticking with black and tan’s ensures you won’t get tired of them. 

These black booties are ones I always gravitate to and totally recommend. The heel is dressy enough to pair with dresses but also looks great with jeans and sweaters. I think booties can sometimes make your legs look shorter if they have a sharp cut but I love that these dip down in the front which I think is so flattering and elongating. 

Another tip for styling boots and booties is to match them to your handbag. I think it pulls your look together and this cross body is the perfect black option. It’s no secret that I love a good black leather cross body (remember this grey one?) and the buckle detailing on this one is gorgeous. Not to mention I can fit my wallet, cell phone and random Zain knick knack’s in it which is a miracle.
