Our Nursery Progress

GUYS! I am so excited to share some of the progress we have made on the nursery with you today. As much time as I thought we had left, it seems to be flying by and thankfully The RoomPlace swooped in to help us out during National Decorating Month. It’s not totally completed and we still have a bit to go, but I am so relieved our reading nook and dresser are organized and stocked!

I’m hoping this sweet reading nook will be where we spend a lot of time with our sweet baby boy and I have already filled his gorgeous dresser with his washed clothes. When I began looking for pieces for the room, I knew I wanted understated and mostly neutrals and white tones. Although ‘kid furniture’ is cute, I found most of it to be overpriced and difficult to utilize in another area of our home later. My hope was to pick pieces I could later switch out if needed and that wouldn’t be gender specific. I knew I didn’t want a specific theme or a lot of kid oriented pieces from the start so that made the design process a little easier.

I quickly found tons of pieces on The RoomPlace website I loved and knew would fit perfectly in our space. When I started searching for the reading nook, I immediately decided on this Roxbury Chair rather than a rocker. I liked that we could transition it to somewhere else in our home later in life and the color and structure was right up my alley! It felt a little mid century but was large enough that both Trevor or I could comfortably relax in it with baby for nighttime feeds, story time or whatever else we wanted. So many chairs we had tried in stores hadn’t been quite large enough for Trevor to lounge in, so this was a great find for us!

After narrowing down a chair, I added this beautiful floor lamp – did you see the marble base?! and this set of nesting tables. I had been eyeing these tables for a while and this was the perfect excuse to snag them! They worked so well to style his books, toys, little needs and the 4 glasses I seem to have following me at all times! Water, coffee, OJyou name it and I have it!

For the dresser area, I immediately fell in love with this simple and clean white Fulton dresser. I wanted to keep the room bright and crisp and thought this dresser worked so well. After getting in into place, I decided to add this funky table lamp on the side and hung this round mirror in the background! I love a good circular mirror and I’m sure it will come in handy when our baby boy starts to become amused with himself! The size is perfect and I love the worn in wooden frame, it blends in perfectly.

After getting all these big pieces into place, I just began styling away with little toys and goodies we have acquired for our sweet guy. Lots of them are hand me downs from my sister in law and brother, some are gifts and some are things I just couldn’t resist myself.

I am really so happy that everything is coming together and can’t wait to share a final reveal with you guys soon. The RoomPlace was such a lifesaver and really helped us transform this spare room into a cozy nursery. It’s not the biggest room and I felt like their pieces were perfect for our city space!

Not to mention, another huge plusthe delivery was so easy. They are a local Chicago based brand and setting up delivery was simple and stress free, which rarely happens. After the nightmare I just had getting a rug delivered, this was a wonderful relief. They called me to set up a time, confirmed before and notified me that morning exactly what time they would arrive so I didn’t have to wait around all day. Once they arrived, the employees were so friendly and respectful of our home, set everything up and took away all the boxes. I have never had such a seamless delivery and after all the nightmares we’ve had this year, this was such a selling point!

Everything I picked out is currently available in Indiana and Chicago, so feel free to let me know if you have any questions or need recommendations! Can’t wait to have our little guy here in just 9 more weeks!

It looks perfect! I hope to have kids someday and this is exactly what I would like to do with our second bedroom. Something simple, with a lovely classic rug. So exciting for you!

Beautiful- it looks awesome! Love the chair- great to go with a big one. And great book choices. No matter how cheesy I think Love you Forever is as I read it to my little guy, I ALWAYS start crying when I get to the end.

I’ve been looking like crazy for a white dresser for our nursery! Is this one pure white or off-white? It looks pure white, but it’s sort of hard to tell.
