Well fall is quickly approaching which means one amazing thing is about to start: college football! My friends and I always get together at someone’s house for the games and I was so excited to partner with Dr.Pepper since they are an official sponsor of the College Football Playoff to create some fun game day snacks like root beer floats & mini sliders.

college football is a way of life in my home state and i love supporting my favorite Louisville team! Since Kentucky doesn’t have a professional football team college sports become everything & it’s so nice to have so many friends in Chicago from our hometown. Game watches are some of the best fall days and I was excited to make some healthy (-ish) snacks for friends.

Nothing is better than delicious Root Beer Floats with Dr.Pepper and each flavor tasted better than the next. I love giving options and being able to offer guests Regular, Diet, Caffeine Free, & Cherry which I picked up at Walmart. I added two scoops of vanilla ice cream to each mug ahead of time and left the different flavors next to them for people to help themselves. self serve if easier for everyone and this way it’s all set!

I thought a few snacks would help get people through the day and i always try to make one thing and have a ready made snack for the other. You want to enjoy the day as host so don’t put too many things on your plate. Cheez-It’s are always a hit and the flavors get better and better. I then created some mini turkey burger sliders with a spicy kick. Adding the homemade taco seasoning, pepper jack cheese, & spicy mayo to the burger really kicks up the flavor a notch. Turkey burgers can be on the plainer side so if spicy is not your thing I suggest adding toppings to make them Greek or Italian to add bold flavor!

Mini Turkey Burger Slider

delicious mini turkey burgers with a kick!

For the burger
  1. 1 lb Lean Ground Turkey
  2. 1 whole egg
  3. 1 egg white
  4. 1/4 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  5. 1/4 cup diced red onion
  6. 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  7. 2 tsps chopped parsley
  8. 1tsp salt
  9. 1 clove garlic, peeled & minced
  10. 1 tsp black pepper
  11. 8 whole wheat buns
For the spicy mayo
  1. 1 cup olive oil mayonnaise
  2. 1/2 cup sriracha
  3. black pepper to taste
For the burgers
  1. Combine all ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix well. Make sure all ingredients are combined and form into 6 large burger patties or 10 mini slider patties.
  2. Heat stove with olive oil spray on medium.
  3. Before adding patties lightly coat outside with breadcrumbs. This will allow a nice crust to be created on your burgers and hold your patties together.
  4. Cook for 15 minutes on stove top alternating sides.
  5. Garnish with arugula, tomatoes, avocado, pepperjack cheese, & spicy mayo.
