Good morning!

How was everyone’s weekend? We got back from Arizona at about 2am Friday night and I couldn’t wait for Zain to wake up Saturday morning. Four days away from that boy seemed like a long time and although I loved the trip, I did miss him like crazy.

Getting away with Trevor was something that I thought we did a fairly good job at. We try to make a point to have date nights every once in a while, spend time together once Zain goes to sleep and get away. It wasn’t till I was preparing for our trip last week that I realized we hadn’t gone on a trip alone since we had Zain.

How did 17 months go by and we not take time to get away? I know having a kid get’s busy and life tends to fly by but I always want to spend time with Trevor and never lose sight of that. So, in case any of you are finding yourself in the same boat I think it’s great to get away however you can (one night, staycation, send the babe to a friend’s) and hang out with your spouse the way you used to.

We spent most of the weekend just hanging around the house, a ton of furniture had arrived while we were gone so we organized that and we tried out Sky Zone again with Zain for toddler time and loved it.

Since it’s really cooled down in Louisville I thought today’s post would do a great job breaking down basics you can use over and over again each year. I know we all love to get new things but so many of my pieces are reworn and if they aren’t still available I try to round up the best alternatives for you from brands I know and love.

A Good Scarf:

This actually is a new buy from the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I couldn’t hep myself when I saw it and am in love with how oversized it is. No matter what size or texture you go with a camel scarf is a must. It goes with any and everything and can make an outfit.

A Classic V Neck Sweater:

Although I love a good mock or crew neck this style is a must to keep on hand. I always suggest basic colors like black, grey or camel so you can use it as much as possible. Pair these with jeans and heels, skirts and boots or even faux leather leggings and booties.

A Crossbody Bag:

I don’t know about you but I almost exclusively buy bags that come with a cross body strap now. Although I love the way a wrist bag looks (which is why it’s nice to have that option) it’s just not as feasible for me. If I have Zain or really anything else with me I can’t do both so the strap always comes in handy. This leather bag from Vince Camuto is a favorite and I like that the color is almost in between grey and black.

Loafers:

Maybe my most worn and asked about shoe. This pair is from who else but Everlane and is my #1. I have found them to be incredibly comfortable (no break in needed) but they do run a tad small so I would order a 1/2 size up. I have snagged the oxfords as well in nude but just don’t find myself reaching for them as often as these loafers.
