Happy Friday y’all!

How has your week been? I’m so happy to see Friday and that our house is mostly back to normal. Don’t you feel like you need a vacation when you get home from vacation? I’m happy to report that our first week back is on the up and up! It’s been a little while since I shared a life update and since so much had been going on with the holidays I never got around to it.

Girl Time

Gosh, I can’t tell you the last time Blair, Jess, Kelly and I got together. Just months ago it was only Kelly that had a baby so it was a little easier to plan our lady dates. We would grab dinner or lunch at least once every couple of weeks and now that everyone’s lives have changed so much scheduling is just a tad bit harder.

All the girls came over to our place on Wednesday and it was SO nice. We chatted, ordered Olive Mediterranean Grill (side note: I hadn’t had it in so long and it was delicious! Definitely add it to your list) and hung out all afternoon. It was great to see baby Owen (Zain loves him!) and catch up. We really promised to prioritize this time because it’s so important!

Yes, my Christmas tree is still up. It’s coming down tomorrow!

Missing the Beach

Even with this Chicago ‘heat wave’ I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss the beach and spending time with my parents. It was such a nice break and so fun to watch my parents enjoy Zain! I’ll be sharing much more on the resort next week but here are a few of my favorite photos off my phone 🙂

Winter Cleaning

Is it just me or does everyone purge during the winter? I’m not sure if it was coming home and wanting everything put away but I cleaned out all of our closets and made a huge pile of things I need to sell and donate. I’m debating between Ebay and posting them on Instagram stories so if you have an opinion one way or another on what’s easier let me know!

Healthy Eating

I’m happy to report we’ve stuck to our healthy eats this week. I’ve finally gotten back to cooking which feels great and my favorite from this week was probably the Detox Immune Boosting Chicken Soup! I shared it in this post and heard rave reviews from so many people so I’m glad it’s not just me that loved it. It was really easy to make and perfect for this crazy weather.

Poor Zain

On the flight back from Mexico, I felt like something was bothering Zain. He was more fussy than he had been on the way there and nothing was making him happy. When we got home I saw him touch his ear once and mentioned it to Trevor. The next day I felt like he was off. I know that sounds vague but I think you know your kid and something wasn’t right. He was super clingy and would get upset when I would turn to walk away. Normally he could care less. Trevor was skeptical anything was wrong but I knew ear infections were common after colds and croup so I decided to take him in.

What a lesson in trusting your gut! He did have a very early ear infection in his right ear and the doctor was shocked I noticed so early. I guess my paranoia pays off sometimes ha! We started him on antibiotics and he’s finally feeling more like himself. Seeing your baby sick is awful and I’m so happy his ‘sad eyes’ as we call them are going away.

Thanks for all the sweet messages and encouragement for him, the community of mommas on Instagram has been the greatest blessing and I cherish every message even if I don’t get to respond to them all!

Lazy Weekend

I am excited to finally take our Christmas tree down (I know, I know), run some errands and sneak away to the coffee shop to get some work done this weekend. I am trying to make zero plans and keep it that way! Our house needs to get well, catch up on sleep and just relax!

What do you guys have planned?

  1. I hope you all feel better! The sickness is never ending with kids, I swear! I think it is life’s way of telling us to slow down and enjoy them while they are little.
