House Update: Lighting Edition

Sep 21, 2018

The new light in our upstairs hallway! I so wish I had taken more ‘before’ photos but I keep forgetting to…We’ve found tons of great fixtures and inspo here!

TGIF y’all!

Zain has the sniffles and has passed it along to us so I am looking forward to a lazy weekend getting things done around the house. Since so much has been going on around here behind the scenes I thought it may be fun to share an update on where we are at and all the new lighting we’ve installed.

We have now almost replaced every single light fixture in our house and I have to say I think little things like this make such a big difference. I included a few before and after’s below so you can be the judge as well as each fixture and where we used it!

I am still on the hunt for a few more pieces so I will come back and update these posts as time goes on that way I can always have somewhere to direct you guys! I am also working on a post about our outdoor space, our kitchen nook and trying to update this post as we purchase new items you all are asking about!

This is the original paint, hardware, etc when we moved in.

After

I love the change the paint, lighting and hardware made. I’m still torn on if I should have painted the shelving but since we are going to renovate soon I’m trying to ignore it 😉

classic sconces

No before shot for our sconces 😉 I really debated doing something a little more out there and fun but everything I was drawn to had an exposed bulb and I think those look better in bathrooms or flanking mantle’s and less in hallways but also what do I know. I decided to keep it classic and love the way these look and the quality of the shades, especially for the price!

Before

Obviously another random picture I found on my phone. Not meant to be high quality but just to show you how much has changed with just paint and the new fan. This is our third floor (finished attic) which we will use as a casual living space/play area. Our guest bedroom and bathroom are up here as well and that space is almost done so fingers crossed I can get it all together and share soon as well!

After

Can you believe how different it looks? I can not tell you how much I love this fan. It’s sleek, modern and as pretty as I think a fan can get. It also has great reviews, has a remote and makes zero noise. Also, all of our paint colors are in this post in case you have any questions!

I shared every item below and if you have any questions at all feel free to shoot me an email or leave them in the comments below!

Such a great hallway light! I also think it could be pretty in a bedroom. I chose the etched glass so it wouldn’t show dust as much.

These are our kitchen pendants I shared before and I’m still so happy with them!

Our wall sconces that are a great size and quality!

This is the light we used in our small hall nook right before you enter our kitchen. It is a small space above our door and this looks great!

We have not hung this yet but this is for our master bedroom. I am hoping to keep everything in there light and bright so it’s as calming as can be!

This is the pendant you see in our pantry! I love how big and oversized the bulb is!

We have not hung this yet either but this will be in our den! I needed something semi flush since we are planning on mounting our TV over the fireplace and I loved these bulbs.

Last but not least our favorite fan! If you are in the market I highly recommend it!

Wow what a difference lighting can make! Usually when I renovate a room a pay more to furniture, but making sure you don’t have outdated lighting is just as important!

Love the etched glass. The perfect lighting piece is essential to any room. I agree that you should definitely make sure your house doesn’t have any outdating lighting during renovations!

I love all of the little changes you made, great attention to detail. Personally I love the small lamp you put by the stairs the most.

The third set of photos down is awesome. I’m a hard wood lover, and most people like tradition hard wood but i really like the contraction between the dark hard wood and the white print.
