Life Lately XVIII

Nov 21, 2017

Happy Tuesday all! It’s been a while since our last catch up session so I thought I would fill you guys in on all things life before the holidays really get in full swing. I am so excited to drive home tomorrow! We are heading to Louisville after Trevor gets done at work and attempting to drive at Zain’s bedtime for the first time. We have been leaving for rad trips early when he takes his longest nap in the past but we thought we would try this out while we had some help on the other side. If it works, we’re going to do it on the way back too so I will be sure to keep you updated!

Halloween Fun

How cute is my little Max from Where The Wild Things Are? As soon as I saw this costume online I knew he had to have it. It was insanely soft and had great reviews so I figured we would give it a try. At that point he couldn’t sit up on his own so I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on something he was going to wear once or twice. By a miracle, he didn’t mind it at all and kind of enjoyed the hood on it! Funny story: I had randomly found a family picture of a son, mom and dad dressed in these hats on Pinterest and clicked through to find where I could buy them. It took me to a blogger’s website who I then messaged about how she made the hats on Instagram. Since we all know I’m terrible at DIY’s and she figured she was never going to use them again, she shipped them over to me! Isn’t that amazing?

We put Zain in his costume to walk around the neighborhood the Sunday before Halloween since Trevor was on call that week and we had no idea if we would see him Tuesday. Luckily, he made it out early on Halloween and we went over to my friend Lauren’s house in Old Irving Park. The trick or treating was bananas! We had such a fun night and Zain loved watching all the kids go up and down the streets.

Recent Food Finds

three arts cafe chicago

I’ve had some great meals since the last time we chatted and thought I would share. If you have never been to the 3 Arts Cafe at Restoration Hardware in the Gold Coast, add it to your list. Be prepared for a wait but the scenery and food is totally worth it. Plus, they have a bar and coffee shop you can enjoy while browsing furniture while you wait for your table. The burger and fries rivals Au Cheval and now I’m hungry looking at this…

daisies chicago

Daises Chicago is a new restaurant that opened in Logan Square right on Milwaukee. I had dinner there with some girlfriends and really loved it! They specialize in homemade pastas but everything we tried was delicious. Make sure to order the cheese curds and butternut salad!

city winery chicago

When my girlfriends from dental school came in town a few weekends ago  we tried out La Josie in the West Loop. The food was good and I thought the cocktails were amazing! After dinner we wandered down to City Winery for a drink at the bar and had the best time. I don’t always think to go there for after dinner drinks but it is really the perfect spot for a nice quiet drink if you are looking for less of a dark bar feel! #old

Back At It!

flywheel class

Tank | Workout Pantslove these but they run big! | ShoesI ordered a 1/2 size up!

I know I shared how I was trying to get back into working out after losing any and all motivation and Flywheel has swooped in to save the day. I always loved the classes but signing up for something and being held accountable to make it has helped me so much. I also enjoy that you can be competitive with yourself all from the app. It tracks your scores at each class, how many miles you raced, how many calories you burned—you name it. It’s really helped me feel better and have more energy! Since I was a bit of a skeptic about barre before I was hesitant to try their class but my friend Lauren convinced me and holy hell it was hard. It was upbeat, constant work and really fun. If you haven’t liked barre in the past, I totally recommend you try it! Also, if it’s your first time at the studio you can use code FLYLOWSTOLUXE for a free class!

A Little Me Time

hotel EMC2

Staycation! I will be sharing more about the Huggies Parent Council meeting tomorrow on the blog but Hotel EMC2 was a dream! I thought I would get the best nights sleep ever but that apparently that isn’t possible when you’ve been used to not sleeping for the past 6 months. Despite the lack of sleep I thoroughly enjoyed this giant fluffy bed and is the decor not gorgeous?

Our First Snowfall!

I couldn’t believe how much actually fell and I’m okay with it not happening again for a while. Holiday Cups Are Here!

starbucks holiday cup

I don’t care who you are if holiday cups don’t make you happy I’m not sure what to say. I love getting into the holidays and this first cup made me a happy lady. Also, I recently tried the blonde Christmas blend and the holiday spice flat white for the first time and it all tastes the same to me. At this point I think Starbucks is just making stuff up but I’m here for it.
