Trevor & I don’t often have weekdays off and I’m scared we won’t have a ton of time together over his next year of fellowship so when we realized we would have on Wednesday overlap that we would both be off we decided to make the most of it.

We started the day by heading to the Green City Farmer’s Market! If you aren’t here in Chicago it’s the farmer’s market in Lincoln Park that is open Wednesday’s and Sunday’s. We thought the weekday would be much less crowded but that was not the case. We walked around and snagged some fresh strawberries – I mean did you see them and I finally made my first peony purchase. I always think they’re gorgeous at the store but find them pricey and bright pink! I was excited to see these local ones in a beautiful blush color for much less than I expected. I decided to snag a bunch and am happy I finally made the plunge. The bunch had about 3 blooming and 6 buds that would bloom over the next week or so. They lasted forever and made me so happy – you know how I have become addicted to flowers.

After that we decided to try a new spot I had seen everywhere. Left Coast Food & Drink is in North Lakeview almost to Southport. One thing I noticed while we were in Denver is that Chicago doesn’t have a lot of good and healthy spots to eat. Left Coast is a bit pricey but insanely good. I wasn’t sure what I expected but I had the California Love wrap and Trevor had the steak and chimichurri wrap and they were both amazing.

After lunch we took a bit of a catnap – the sun was beating down all day and decided to play tennis once the sun started to go down. It took a bit of searching to find an open court but we played for a few hours in Logan Square and it felt great to get outside again.

I wish we could have these days once a week but a girl can dream. Have you guys tried Left Coast? Also, if you have any good Intel on open tennis courts in the city please let me know!

I love going to farmers markets and open markets! There’s one by my place, so I try to go on the weekends with my hubby. 🙂 Beautiful fresh peonies – so smart to get some that are open and some not! Hopefully you and Trevor will have time to go even when he’s doing his Fellowship!
