Hey guys, happy first full week of spring! Now that the snow has subsided (insert eye roll) maybe we can finally hope and dream for some magically warm weather. I have been sharing a bit of my fitness journey on here and more so over on Instagram and last week I asked you all for recommendations on protein powders and of course you delivered so I thought I would share.

I’m slowly trying to ‘clean out’ everything in my beauty cabinet, kitchen and beyond and protein powder was next on my list. I previously used HMR protein powder and loved the taste but was wanting something more plant based options that I could feel good about putting in my body. I had tried a few here and there but I could not stand the chalkiness of most.

I had previously found Vega One to be my go to but have now switched to Nutiva Organic Hemp Protein and added all of the ones below to my list since you guys had so many good things to say about them. I also thought I would share my easy everyday smoothie recipe with you since it’s been really filling me up and refueling me after my workouts. Plus, it’s easy to throw together and won’t make you feel like you’re eating grass.

I usually use this smoothie blender but am dying to get a Vitamix. Everyone I know that has one swears by it for blending any and everything but I haven’t justified the price yet. I also love these tumblers that keep them cold and if I’m at home usually try to throw them in a mason jar!

Vega One Protein Powder

I know they have one that says ‘All in One’ but I add to that too and think it tastes great! I loved both the vanilla and chocolate and found that adding the peanut butter takes away the chalky taste. I have since read up on and had several of you warn me that their line was reviewed as being unhealthy and containing a high amount of arsenic so I’m staying away from it for now.

Nutiva Organic Hemp Protein

This is what I settled on after some research to try next! Hemp protein offers a good amount of fiber that’s easy to digest which immediately drew me. It also boasts heart-healthy doses of anti-inflammatory omega-3s and doesn’t taste too chalky. I’ve found the trick to weeding out that thicker consistency is adding some peanut or almond butter (Trader Joe’s has a great one with virtually no sugar!)

Aloha Organic Protein Powder

This was the next most recommended powder by you all! I have seen it on the shelves at Target so think I will snag it next time I’m there. Everyone loved all the flavors.

Tone It Up Plant Based Protein Powder

Lots of rave reviews for this one as well and they sell an organic version directly on their website too!

Juice Plus + Protein Powder

A recommendation by my friend Lauren who I trust on all things health related so excited to try this soon too!

Costco in LP has a Vitamix for $100 off we just bought and its AMAZING. life changing if you’re a smoothie drinker – not joking!!

I use a very similar recipe (+cinnamon and a little ginger spice!) but I use frozen bananas. It makes the smoothie way creamier and you don’t need ice!

Have you experimented with both vanilla and chocolate flavors in smoothies? Curious which one you think is more versatile! I’m looking to incorporate more protein in my diet so this post was so timely!

Oh perfect, I’m so glad! Yes, I have and I will say that I usually like chocolate flavors more because they seem to taste less chalky to me. Hope that helps!
