Hello, new week! We had a fairly low key weekend over here and a great day yesterday. I had a work project that took me downtown so we figured we would make a day of it and take Zain to the Chicago Children’s Museum. Have you all been?

I had been once before with Kelly, Mitch and Emma but now that Zain is fully on the move and enamored with other children it was a totally new experience. They have so many amazing rooms for kids of all ages and he loves nothing more than putting the nuts and bolts together. After that we wandered around downtown since we never venture to Michigan Ave anymore and enjoyed wandering around and grabbing coffee. What were you all up to?

Since it was a low key weekend I was mostly wearing a version of this outfit. I get a lot of questions about how I manage to have new clothes all the time and what basics do I keep on rotation so I thought I would break it down!

I don’t buy clothes very often. As a blogger, I am often gifted products of my choosing for projects, have partnership set up with stores and actually share and borrow clothes with my friends a lot. I don’t ever want to give the illusion that you should constantly be filling your closet with things that you don’t like or make you happy. My goal is to inspire style and creativity (with new pieces every so often) but also share my tried and true basics that I rework.

It’s a huge reason I love Instagram stories and the LikeToKnowIt app! I am able to share more real ‘in the moment’ looks on there and since most things are old and no longer available I do my best to find the most similar option at a good price point.

I also wear a ton of my things over and over again. This bag and these loafers were purchased a few years ago but are worn more often than I would like to admit. It’s great to have ‘building pieces’ in your wardrobe you can mix and match to make new fresh looks. Stripe tees, denim and loafers are those for me and I think pieces that are timeless, transitions seasons and are always in style.

How do you all manage to keep your wardrobe fresh?
