What I’m Packing For The Beach

Apr 2, 2021

HAPPY FRIDAY!

How is everyone? This week is shaping up to be a crazy one. We are tentatively scheduled to start demo on our kitchen on Monday which is wild. Between work, the kids, cleaning out the kitchen and packing us up it has been a bit chaotic. We are moving into my parent’s house before demo starts and will stay there through most of the big stuff.

I’m hoping we won’t have to be out of the house for too long but between all the dust and noise plus not having a working kitchen I am thanking my lucky stars that my parent’s live here and we have the option to stay with them during this time.

With the kitchen demo quickly approaching I kind of forgot we were heading to the beach soon. We rented a house by the beach for a week and I can not wait to get away! Last time we drove to South Carolina and it was the perfect retreat. Having a house with a pool is so much fun with a toddler and Zahra is so much more active this time around I hope she loves the water just as much. I thought I would share what I’m packing in my bag and if you all are curious about what I am packing for the kids just let me know and I will try to share that next week on the blog.

This time around my parents are coming with us and I can’t wait! We are all vaccinated aside from the kids which I am very thankful for. We don’t plan on leaving the house except for groceries much like last time but I still feel a bit more calm about leaving our little bubble. Our house has a pretty big backyard with a pool and grill so we can cook out and just hang around the house. I think we may sneak away to the beach one day if it feels pretty empty for the kids enjoyment! None of us are really beach people but Zain loved it last time.

I didn’t buy a lot of new stuff but have some summer staples I swear by and thought I would share!

Random Things:

Face Sunscreen: Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen – not completely clean but I can’t quit it and it’s cleaner on the spectrum of sunscreens. Works wonders under makeup too!

Body Sunscreen: Blue Lizard – this is completely clean and what I use on the kids and us. It is a little thicker but easy to rub in and doesn’t break the bank.

Sun Hat: Visor – I have a few hats but the fact that this can roll up into a tiny tube to pack and allows me to keep my hair up in a ponytail I always take it!

Water Jug: Simple Modern – this is what I use around the house and take everywhere with me. It’s large but fits in a cup holder and had a lip you can close!

Swimsuits:

High Waist Green Floral: this is one of my all time favorites! So affordable and has removable straps, padding and a great high waisted bottom with adequate coverage of the peach. Runs TTS, I have a medium.

High Waist Tie Dye: another favorite I bought this year that has all the same features I love about the above! Runs TTS, I have a medium.

Leopard Wrap One Piece: I bought this last year for our babymoon before we cancelled and am excited to finally wear it! I love the wrap detail and is a great suit for pregnant or nursing mamas.

Cover Ups:

White Button Down: I like to keep cover ups nice and breezy and I love if they have a belt or button option. I’ve had this white one for a few years and always reach for it.

Shirt Dress: An easy breathable throw on and go cover up! Runs TTS, I have a medium.

Sarong: I snagged this $15 sarong last week and really like how adjustable it is.

Shoes:

Tkees Nude Sandals: I always find myself reaching for these simple sandals. If in between sizes I would go up and you can’t beat the price! (more Tkees here)

Freedom Moses Slides: These are a new-ish brand to me and I purchased mine last summer. I love them so much and it’s a huge bonus they are waterproof. I have heard from y’all that they are best for narrow feet and I agree. If you happen to have a wider foot I would say Birkenstocks would be a better fit! (more Freedom Moses here)

Birkenstocks: It’s no secret that I have more than one pair of Birkenstocks. What can I say? They are incredibly comfortable and look good with everything. I wear my true size and think this pair is the easiest to dress up! (more Birkenstocks here)

Dresses:

Z Supply: This is my go-to t-shirt dress and I take it with me on every vacation. They come in short sleeve and sleeveless versions and run TTS in my experience. They are very affordable and a piece you will wear over and over again. (more Z Supply here)

BB Dakota Floral Dress: This is a new piece I picked up for the trip because I couldn’t resist the happy print! I thought it looked oversized so ordered my true size and it fits great. I feel like this is a piece you can throw on and go anywhere: the beach, dinner, or just to hang at home. (more BB Dakota here)

Shorts:

AGolde Parker Shorts: You know these come with me everywhere and I think they are well worth the investment. (more AGolde here)

Target Shorts: A great $15 find but do run a bit odd since they are from the Target junior line. I wear a size 10 and love how high waisted they are but still have a longer length.

Free People Makai Shorts: I bought these last year and never really had a chance to wear them! I love the faded black denim but they come in a true blue and green denim. Run TTS. (more FP here)

Tanks & Tees:

Madewell Whisper Tank: My go anywhere tank that I own in almost every color. I love the way they fit and are under $20. (more Madewell here)

Target Stripe Tee: I mean, I don’t have to explain how much I love this tee. Best $8 you will spend and runs TTS, I’m in a medium.

Workout Wear:

Lululemon Align: My holy grail legging and it’s always going on sale so keep checking back! TTS, I wear a 2.

Amazon Sports Bra: My favorite sports bra currently! It has pads, offers a ton of support and has washed really well. TTS, I’m in a small.

Ribbed Crop Top/Lounge Top: The top I have gotten everyone on board with. Works as a workout bra for my small chested self but is the best lounge top. TTS, I’m in an XS.

Lululemon Muscle Tank: muscle tanks are probably my favorite type of workout tank and the easiest to take from workout to errands.

Amazon Shorts: I am not a shorts fan and I have a very hard time finding ones to work out in. I ordered these on a whim after my friend Blair raved about them and I love them. Runs TTS, I’m in a medium.

Hope this is helpful and I will try to update it as I pack! Here’s to some sunshine and a good spicy margarita!
