Homemade Taco Seasoning

Aug 18, 2015

I will admit back in my college days I would buy the packets of taco seasoning and dump them all over meats for a quick fix. I love spicy food and Mexican is one of my favorites so I felt like I was using them all the time! As I got a little bit older and more interested in cooking I realized there are so many added ingredients in them that are unnecessary. Making the homemade taco seasoning at home ahead of time is so easy and I can feel good about how often I use it!

Just combine the ingredients in a storage container and keep on hand. This will make a good amount and I usually store it for up to 6 months in my spice cabinet. It’s so easy and the flavor is so much better in my opinion!

ingredients:

2 tbsp chili poder

1tbsp red pepper flakes

1 tbsp cumin

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp oregano

1 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

Let me know if you try it and how it turns out – you can always add additional chili powder for extra spiciness or leave a bit out for milder palettes!
