Our Third Floor Progress

Jan 27, 2021

Good morning and can we all say a collective amen that we are halfway through this week!

I realized it has been a long time since I shared an update on our top floor and we really have made a lot of progress up here. For reference, when we moved in this had been used for a ping pong table and a spare bedroom. We put a fresh paint over everything and as much as I wish we could have uncovered the exposed brick that had been painted a glossy red it was going to be near impossible so I just added a fresh white paint over it.

We completed the guest bedroom first (you can see the full transformation here) and then moved on to the living area. My goal is to make this a functional space for us and the kids like much of our house. I was dying for a cozy leather couch up here and am fairly certain this one will never leave this spot. It’s a miracle the moving guys got it up here and around the stairs!

Paint Colors:

Den Area: Benjamin Moore Classic Gray

Brick: Benjamin Moore White (High Gloss) #OC-151

Sources:

Couch: Article – others we considered here & here | Overall, we like the couch and it’s very comfy but the cushions are not fully covered in leather (they have cloth on the back and bottom) and now that the West Elm one is $1000 off they are the same price. I went with article to save money but kind of wish I had gone with one of the other two.

Coffee Table: World Market

Carpet: Lulu & Georgia – others we considered here & here

Chairs: Target – love these so much but they are not cozy/comfy and have a more sturdy feel if that makes sense! These & these have the same look at similar prices.

Kids Chairs: Minted – love these so much more than the structured ones. I figured they could use these longer and liked the prints so much!

TV Stand: Target, old – love this and this!

Kids Table and Chairs: Amazon – we have had this forever and can’t recommend it enough!

Photo Ledge: Target – we combined 3 of these but it was such a pain! I had originally wanted 3 layers and changed my mind and should have just bought this instead!

Date Picture: Minted – would make a great gift!

Frames: West Elm & Pottery Barn

Reversible Playmat: Skip Hop – we have had this since Zain was little and loved it so much, so easy to wipe and clean!

Tent: Land of Nod – Crate Kids has several similar now!

Baskets: Minted and Home Goods

Fan: Home Depot – we have the same one in Zain’s room and I love how sleek it is and it works really well.

Chicago Print: Etsy

Kids Art Easel: Hape

Play Kitchen: Hape – also available here! I can not recommend this one enough. As you know, we are huge fans of the brand but this took minutes to put together, looks nice and has held up so well.

Cleaning Set: Melissa & Doug

Kids Dyson: Casdon

Throw Pillow: World Market – I can’t say enough good things about their $10 throw pillows, I think they look great!

Kentucky Print: Etsy – similar here!

Rainbow Hanger: Wire and Wonder Co – a new small business that a reader started and is amazing! She makes custom creations as well and they are so beautiful in person. If you are looking for a gift or something for a kids room, I highly recommend!

A couple things I am still working on: hanging our kids artwork. We don’t have a ton of pieces yet but I am planning on buying the frames and hanging them blank and then just adding to them as we go! We also have the cutest nook of shelves on the stairs that I still haven’t decided on but am leaving it blank for now.

Let me know if you have any questions at all and cheers to a wonderful weekend!

Framing Zain’s artwork all over our house makes me so happy!
