Since life around here has been mostly dirty diapers and late night feedings, it was nice to get out with Trevor to celebrate his graduation from fellowship a few weeks ago. I had previously anticipated I wouldn’t be able to make it since our sweet boy was due just a few days before but since he came a bit early and my mom was in town, she urged me to go and enjoy a night out.

I fought her a little and then realized it may be a good idea and after all Trevor’s hard work I wanted to be there to celebrate with him. The dinner was at Fulton Market Kitchen which we had never been to. It’s in the West Loop and such a cool space. There is amazing art at every corner and the night we were there they had a ceramist making pieces.

When it came to figuring out what to wear, I immediately knew I would turn to Rent The Runway. My body is still changing post baby and nursing can provide a whole additional realm of challenges when getting dressed. I chose a few options online but this pink number was what I was hoping to wear. I loved that it had thick straps, pockets and some flair in the skirt. It’s a super thick material making you feel secure and and the subtle pattern is really pretty in person. As far as size, I say order true to your normal cocktail dress size and thanks to Rent The Runway you can always get an additional dress in the next larger size to be safe. If you are looking for what to wear to a summer wedding, I can’t reccomend this enough!

I decided to pair it with my new tassel earrings I’m clearly obsessed with and this adorable Cult Gaia bag that I borrowed from Jess. You can get on the wait list like I did for the next release on a few different sites that I linked above!

We had such a wonderful time at dinner and celebrating all of Trevor’s hard work. After 26 years of school and the craziest year of fellowship, I’m so proud of him for making it through and still being there for me. I wish he had a bit more time off than just the weekend but I’m so happy he’s enjoying his new job and his hours are so much better! Having him home in the evenings with Zain is such a welcome change and I’m excited for our new normal.

Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend and here’s to hoping the rain holds off this week!

  2. This dress is gorgeous on you! Would not believe you just had a baby! Congrats to you and Trevor. I remember when my husband finished law school, I felt like I should get an honorary degree 🙂

  3. So happy for both of you! So many exciting things have happened this spring!

Also, on a completely side note: is the tree by the bedroom gone?

You look amazing and I love this dress! I’m currently 22 weeks and freaking out over the weight gain (eating and exercising normally but the lbs just keep coming) and already in a panic about post-baby weight loss. Would love to hear your experiences with weight during pregnancy and your experiences after! Congrats to you and your husband!!

    • Aww, thank you so much Megan! Oh, don’t stress about it! I tried not to weigh myself and just focused on eating healthy during the week and exercising when I had the energy. I wanted to enjoy myself and I think so much of it is water weight that will come right off! I’m working on a more detailed post about my post baby experience and will share that soon! Hope you’re feeling well and enjoying pregnancy!
