The summer temps are finally within reach & that means it’s sandal weather. Although my soul has been ready for these temps for months I did treat myself to a nice pedicure to welcome spring and summer and it felt good. West loop is probably one of my favorite neighborhoods and Trevor love to have date night or meet friends out for dinner and drinks since there is always something new and fun opening up. I know I mentioned Trevor was graduating soon which means we have one year left of fellowship here in Chicago and then the job search is on. We have no idea if we will be sticking around so we have started compiling a list of places we have never gotten to in the past 6 years and trying to knock them off weekend by weekend.

Last weekend we finally made it into Urbanbelly and oh my word. Admittedly, I was starving by the time we sat down and ordered but everything we tried was better than before. The fried rice is to die for and I felt bad eating it all but I just couldn’t help myself.

Despite the weather warming up you never know with Chicago so I decided to throw on this fun knotted midi dress that is nice and loose for proper eating and a faux leather moto jacket. Layers are always essential especially for me since I tend to always be cold no matter how hot it is. I was also excited to wear my new beek Sandals for the first time all season. The company is owned and operated by two best friends who are not only invested in reinvesting artisanal footwear but fighting worldwide hunger at the same time. with each purchase a meal is donated to a child in need, what more reason do you need?

I would recommend ordering up since they tend to run on the smaller side but the leather could not be more supple and the wrap around ankle is pretty flexible with the ties in the back. The bottoms remind me of childhood shoes from India because you can tell the care that was placed when constructing them. The wooden bottoms show each nail used in construction and it adds such a cool element to their aesthetic.

I will be pairing them all summer with dresses and shorts and am dying to get my hands on the Chickadee now. Flats are a staple of my wardrobe all summer long and it’s always such a struggle to find ones you can stay comfortable in all day. What flats are you loving this season and if you are in Chicago send any and all rec’s for us to add to our bucket list!

We are in recovery mode from Denver since we just got back late last night and are on the struggle bus at work. More on the trip next week and I can’t wait to share some of our highlights. Happy hump day and hope you are surviving the week so far!
