Ahhhh, how is this pregnancy flying by? I think I spent so much time daydreaming about pregnancy leading up to actually getting pregnant and then when it happened, I was in such a state of shock. After hiding it week after week and not allowing myself to get too excited after each and every ultrasound, for fear of something bad happening, I find myself half way through and so little planned. I have yet to buy anything or really conceptualize a nursery, so that is next on my list. I love home decor in general, so planning the nursery decor makes me uber excited.

I thought I would share my top 10 inspirational nursery decor pictures and get your opinions. I’ve been knee deep in Pinterest researching and am not sure what I would do without it! I’m wanting to keep the room as ‘adult’ as possible. If you know me, you know I’m not into themes or anything dramatic. Wait, till you see my baby shower details – I had to fight my mom on every diaper tower and confetti urge she had.

We have decided on almost nothing besides this crib! It was our immediate favorite when browsing and we received it for Christmas, so I am trying to plan everything around it. I am currently on the search for quite a few other things and would love your opinions. Even though this stuff is for a nursery I think most people would have shopped the items before!

A white and wood dresser: The baby’s room doesn’t have a ton of storage space, so this dresser will be super helpful. I am debating between 6 and 3 drawers and I love a good modern look. This one is at the top on my list but I can’t find many any other good options.

A Persian rug: A big beautiful rug with red tones is high on my list!

Lighting: I am loving gold tones with the wood and white decor and need something for the dresser, ceiling and a floor lamp!

Patterned Wallpaper: I am dying for a cool patterned wallpaper either behind the dresser or crib and haven’t seen anything I love. There are so many sites that sell wallpaper so if you have used a brand before that you liked please send the information my way!

These are beautiful nurseries! How exciting to design a space with love for your new little one! I love the wooden toy in the last photo- so much better than the bright, primary colors that are so prevalent with baby toys.

Can I just say that I LOVE that you also aren’t the biggest fan of “themed/baby” nurseries!? I thought I was the only one I knew who wanted to barf at pastels and cartoon animals. Yay for your style!! So happy for you and have fun planning!

  3. these are all so adorable! I kinda wish they were my room, haha!

Adorable!! I was the same way- no theme (despite every time my mother in law asked what our theme was), not too many “baby’ furniture items. We got our dresser for my son’s room at Mint in Chicago. It’s a refurbished old dresser – they have a lot there that are like the style you pinned. And I’d vote for more than 3 drawers- we have 4 I think and I always wish we had more. And a comfy chair is key- we got the nursery works sleepytime rocker which is technically for a baby room, but when you see it you may agree that you could really put it anywhere in your house. And I love how it’s wider so I can stash stuff next to it when sitting with him. This stuff is so exciting–I remember it well. Enjoy every second!!

    • Thank you! Haha, everyone keeps asking me the same thing! Oh I haven’t been there but will definitely check it out this weekend – thank you! Okay good to know – that’s what I was leaning towards because we have virtually no closet space in that room. Awww, thank you so much you have helped me a ton!!!

Hi! Fellow Chicago mom of a 13 month old boy. My best nursery advice is to get a SUPER comfortable rocker or glider! It’s the one item I’d splurge on. You’ll end up spending a lot of time in it especially if you nurse your little one. And get one with a high back you can rest your head on! Your inspirations are beautiful! Have fun!

aww, these ideas are so cute Shaheen, your baby room is going to be the cutest!! Congrats again, you are going to be a great Mom!!

LOVE your nursery inspiration! One thing I am glad I did is to not go too “themey” and “baby” but more clean which looks like what you are going for as well. We have yet to change anything in the room except the crib to a bed and he is six. We painted the walls grey but if I was doing it now I would be tempted to do navy walls with the large animal prints.
