Since having Zain, coffee shops have become more than just a spot to pick up a quick latte. I feel lucky that Zain came along during warm weather months in Chicago which allowed me to get out of the house daily. Not only does he love being outside, it gives me a few hours of exercise and some fresh air.

When I first asked you all to send in requests for blog posts on Instagram stories this got asked several times, so here we go. I’ll try to let you in on my favorite drinks at each of them too but don’t hate me if you order it and think it’s terrible, ha!

David’s Tea

Okay, I know this isn’t a  technical ‘coffee’ shop but it’s probably my most frequented pit stop and am fairly certain it’s a problem they all know Zain and my drink order. If you were like me and hadn’t stopped in a David’s Tea in forever, do it! The staff is always the friendliest and they have so many flavors. My go to is the iced peach matcha tea and I’ve yet to taste anything that beats it!

Backlot Coffee

This spot is brand new and a little farther north. Since so many of our friends have moved to Old Irving Park, I find myself there quite a bit. When I first stumbled in here I was in love with the decor and then I tried the Lavender Matcha Latte with skim milk and dreamed about it after. I always look forward to it when I’m in the area! Also, bonus points for their Bang Bang Pie biscuits!

Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea

This spot is fairly new in Bucktown but has quickly become a staple for us. They have tons of of coffee, teas and kombucha on tap and their food menu is great. Their easy outdoor patio makes it perfect for people with kids and the chocolate croissant si to die for.

Caffe Streets

I just recently started frequenting this coffee shop. We used to stop by when we first moved to the neighborhood but had totally forgot about it till I recently rediscovered it because of Zain’s music classes. He goes to the cutest music classes (have you seen the videos?!) across the street so it’s perfect for us to stop after on our walk home. All of their seasonal syrups are made in house and not super sweet. I was hesitant to try the pumpkin latte since it’s usually not my thing but the seasoning is perfection.

Handbag

Cup and Spoon

This spot is great to work at or just stop in for a drink! It’s not terribly huge but the cold brew is phenomenal and their fresh weekend breakfast is golden.

The Allis

I used to make it down to Soho House a lot more often before I had Zain with Blair for our workdays but The Allis is still one of my favorites. The ambiance is great and you can cozy up when it get’s cold for a warm coffee and brunch!

Beatrix

I was elated when I found out they were opening in the West Loop. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the city but since it was only located in River North I hardly ever made it in. Now that there is a large West Loop location they not only have the traditional restaurant, they also have a Market side where you can self serve from the most amazing salad bar and grab a delicious honey cinnamon latte. I’m not into Bulletproof coffee but Trevor is and if that’s your thing, he likes the one there!

CC Ferns

Trevor and I discovered this tiny gem a few years ago and still try to make it in early so we can get the Doughnut Vault doughnuts! They sell out quickly so make sure you swing by early to snag one. It’s not the greatest to work in for me only because it’s super small and fairly dark which is a recipe for me to take a nap these days.

Ipsento 606

If you frequent the 606 walking trail I’m sure you have seen this place. Their original location is only Western and great too but this is so convenient with Zain. It’s right at the exit on Milwaukee and has that gorgeous mural on the side. They not only have great coffee and teas but some amazing tiny donuts made from sweet potatoes.

Maison Marcel

This last one I haven’t actually made it to yet but is next on the list. It just opened in Lakeview and I am dyinggggg over the interiors. The bread looks amazing and the coffee even better so what more could you ask for?

  1. Love your peplum top. There are only a few coffee shops I go to around our neighborhood. I’m totally not a coffee drinker so I usually go by which places serve the best hot chocolate. 🙂
