5 Tips For A Happier Morning

healthy egg scramble recipe

Mornings around here look quite different lately but we have slowly gotten into a routine to make us all feel a bit more normal. One of the toughest things for me is to let go of my ‘plans’ and fly by the seat of my pants. Now that Zain is here, I took some time to adjust to the fact that I could not make plans or stress when things didn’t go the way I planned. Babies have their own plans and I am slowly learning to go with the flow.

I’ve changed a few things in our morning routine to really help me feel relaxed and put together each morning so I’m not starting the day off frazzled and stressed. I thought I would share a few tips that have saved my sanity and a delicious breakfast recipe! This healthy egg scramble recipe is one of my favorites. I have mentioned it before but ever since doing Whole 30 years ago, I have always had eggs and a protein for breakfast. It helps keep me full and gives me some much needed protein to survive till I get around to figuring out lunch.

Shower The Night Before: Anyone who knows me knows I love a good shower. When my water suddenly broke, I asked Trevor if I had time to shower first and the first question Jess asked me when I got home from the hospital was if I was able to maintain my obsessive showering schedule. I had heard from all of my friends that showering with a baby was impossible and this really concerned me. It’s more than being clean, although getting the spit up off of me is nice! A good shower or bath is relaxing and resets my mind frame. I realized day time showers may be hard so I started jumping in at night once Trevor gets home and it feels great right before bed. Even if you don’t have kids, this saves tons of time in the morning and will really relax you before you wind down.

Set Your Coffee To Auto Brew: I never thought taking 5 minutes to brew my morning coffee would be a tough task but when you’re desperately reaching for caffeine it can seem that way. I’ve started grinding my beans and setting our coffee maker to brew at a certain time. We use this brewer but so many of them have timers and if you have a Nespresso at least you know it will pour quick!

Eat A Protein Packed Breakfast: If I start the day with a light breakfast or something less filling, I’m useless and very hangry by 11am. Even if I’m feeling lazy and don’t want to cook, I try to push myself to get this made so I can start the day off on the right foot. I usually make this egg scramble, have a side of protein like center cut bacon or turkey sausage, smashed avocado and a bit of fruit on the side. It may become boring to some but I reccomend trying it for a full week and see how you feel. You can always put a fun twist on your scramble and add in veggies or some spice to change it up! This scramble has under 300 calories, 15g of protein and the splash ofI Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® Spread adds a delicious buttery flavor! You can find tons of delicious summer grilling recipes like this one on the Make More of Mealtime website and it’s so easy to save while trying them out. Right now, you can instantly save $10 on and $30 spent on participating Unilever products at your local Jewel-Osco

Get Dressed: This may sounds like a given for most people but as someone who only got dressed when I was going to work or out with friends I though working from home would be great because I could stay in my pajamas! I quickly learned that set me up for acting like I was lounging all day. It’s infinitely easier for me to get work, errands and daily tasks done if I’m dressed for the day. Now, that doesn’t mean I throw on a dress but it’s amazing what a little powder, jeans and a tank can do for a girl!

Make A List and Lower Your Expectations: I am a huge proponent of lists. Trevor always refers to me as ‘grandma’ since I love to write lists and resist doing things like that on my phone! The one adjustment I had to make to feel happier was to let that list go at the end of the day. If everything doesn’t get checked off, it’s okay! Life is not going to end and you can always get to it the next day. When you let it go, you will sleep better and worry about far less!

Right now, you can save huge on the several of the Unilever brands like I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, Hellman’s, Lipton and more at your local Jewel-Osco!
